Why We Started Glazia: Fixing a Broken Supply Chain

Introduction

The idea for Glazia didn't begin in a boardroom or with a detailed business plan. It came from spending time on construction sites and understanding how projects actually move from design to completion. The more people we met across the industry, the more we realized that the biggest challenge wasn't a lack of effort—it was a lack of coordination.

Looking Beyond the Cost

Whenever we spoke with architects, fabricators, contractors, and suppliers, we kept hearing similar concerns. Projects were getting delayed despite everyone working hard. Initially, we thought the biggest issue was rising material costs. But after countless conversations, we discovered that cost was only one part of the problem. The real challenge was that every stakeholder was working in isolation.

Construction projects depend on hundreds of small decisions happening at the right time. If a single material is delayed or one specification changes without proper communication, the entire schedule can be affected. We've seen teams waiting for something as simple as an aluminium profile or a hardware component while skilled workers and expensive machinery remained idle.

Delays Have Become Too Common

Nobody intentionally plans for delays, yet they have become so common that many people simply accept them as part of construction. We felt this shouldn't be considered normal. Better coordination and better information can prevent many of these problems before they even happen.
